Description

Clyde Steamer is a full bodied blend for espresso and is perfect paired with steamed milk. Its name is a nod to the paddle steamers that used to bring holidaymakers ‘doon the watter’ to Argyll.

Translating to mean “the women owners of coffee,” this coffee is the product of three extraordinary female producer lots in South of Minas, Brazil. The presence of females in the coffee-producing realm has grown exponentially over the last few years in Brazil. These lots were selected via the “Especialíssimo” program that also works with the Cooxupé Cooperative to select top lots. The Donas producers are esteemed for the work and dedication allocated to the farm and coffee trees. Thanks to technical assistance from visiting agronomists, these producers were able to cultivate each tree with proper care and knowledge.

High altitudes, ideal climates, and nutrient rich soil in the Cajamarca region of Peru make it an ideal place to grow high quality coffee. Here, two brothers, Hector and Luis Guerrero, created this Valle La Lima blend. The brothers support each other in the farm work and harvesting, working in 15 year rotations, to focusing on each variety individually. Farms are not normally named in Peru, so this lot is simply called Valle La Lima to refer to the origin of the coffee.
Roaster's Notes Clyde Steamer
We love the challenge of continually tweaking and elevating our house espresso blend. We've tweaked our roast profile to make the most of the sweet creaminess of the Brazil Fazenda Andrea Costa, to compliment the chocolate and nut of the Brazil Donas do Cafe. Peru's Valle La Lima give a kick of fruity acidity, to cut through the milk and give your brew a bit of zing.
About Brazil
Smuggled into Brazil in 1727 by a Portuguese soldier, after seducing a Governor's wife in French Guiana, around 40% of all coffee in the world is produced in Brazil - around 3.7 million metric tons annually - making it the powerhouse of world coffee production.

Typically, Brazil naturally processes its coffee, but has recently started to experiment with washed and pulped lots.

Brazilian coffees are usually associated with sweet caramel and chocolate notes, big bodies, and a relatively low acidity.
About Peru

Peru is currently the world’s largest exporter of organic coffee, with some 90,000 hectares certified organic. This has primarily been due to smaller producers lacking resources for investment in chemical inputs.

Key coffee producing regions are Cajamarca, Junín, Cusco and San Martin. Typical harvest times are March to September and the most popular varietals are Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, Paché & Catimor.

Peruvian coffees are usually associated with big-bodied sweetness and relatively low acidity.
