Burundi Rugembe Hill Lot 14
We sourced this coffee through Omwani, who have been working in partnership with Burundi-based Migoti Coffee Company and their processing stations to source some of the best coffee across all of Burundi. With peace in the country, after a long period of civil war, and a state-of-the-art coffee washing station, the local community has new-found hope for the future, and farmers are again investing in their coffee farms. We're enjoying a zing of just-ripe plum up front, a delicious, dark cherry sweetness, and a peachy finish.

Roasters Notes Burundi Rugembe Hill Lot 14
We always get excited when the latest Burundi crop lands, and this year was no exception. As always, we're getting delicious sweetness and fruit notes, this year balanced against a subtle hint of black tea.
About Burundi
Burundi’s lush, mountainous geography and favourable soils and climate are well suited to coffee agriculture.

A number of varieties, including Bourbon, Jackson and Mibrizi are harvested between April and July. Farming is carried out entirely by smallholders, centred around 160 washing stations.

With Burundi being so small, there is little to distinguish coffees grown in each of the different coffee growing areas, but coffee from Burundi is typically juicy and bursting with flavours of fruit and berries.
