Papua New Guinea Arufa AX
In the shadow of Mount Bangeta, cosied between winding waterways essential for distributing volcanic nutrients, the smallholder farmers of Arufa have been working their magic. These farmers, in the fertile, remote, and high altitude Jiwaka Province, typically tend to just one or two hectares of land each, where they grow food crops in amongst the coffee. During the September-November harvest, ripe cherries are selectively hand picked and dried on raised beds. We’re getting intense liquorice notes from this lot, with blackberry fruitiness, and subtle hints of black tea.
