Price update for Clyde Steamer & Argyll's Secret Roast
Price update for Clyde Steamer & Argyll's Secret Roast
June 20, 2025

You may have heard that the cost of coffee has increased considerably over the last 12 months. This is due to global demand for coffee increasing, and expected supply decreasing.

Coffee is traded as futures, so changes to anticipated crop yields can disrupt the market. Climatic instability in Brazil and Vietnam, the two biggest producers of coffee by volume, has led to reduced crop forecasts which, in turn, has pushed up the market value of coffee.

While the specialty coffee market sits separately to these market forces, their affect is being felt in the prices we pay for our coffee. Until now, we have benefited from prices we agreed with our suppliers last year, which means we have been able to pass these savings on to you. However, as we begin to procure fresh crops, the higher prices are starting to take effect, in some cases meaning we are paying double what we did a year ago for our green beans.

From fruit to cup, coffee travels a long way. And right now, every step of that journey is getting more expensive, for producers, importers and roasters and alike. We are super aware that sitting within the coffee supply chain are people's livelihoods and we are trying to navigate these tough times with care for everyone involved, while still keeping coffee accessible.

As a result, we will put up the price of our two core blends, Argyll's Secret Roast and Clyde Steamer, effective 23rd June 2025.  250g bags will increase to £10.50, whilst 1kg bags will go up to £36.

Raising prices isn't easy. We hope you understand why we need to make these changes and that you can continue to enjoy exceptional coffee.
